VA-ACME Conference 2010

Call for Papers

The theme of the 2010 VA-ACME is Serve, Support and Educate and will be held at the Kingsmill Resort and Conference Center in Williamsburg, VA – March 10–11, 2010. Our event is dependent on many contributions- in particular, the concurrent sessions. Therefore, we are soliciting topics from the general membership and the public so we can continue the trend of offering valuable and interesting Concurrent Sessions. Please consider submitting a presentation proposal to the conference committee.

Some of the issues looming big for the military are multicultural/language training; organizational leadership for the global war fighter; providing educational services on the fly - use of technologies (palms, blackberry, etc); providing quality educational opportunities to a highly mobile force with limited Internet access; helping families and returning wounded war fighters, but not limited to the listed topics. You may want to have a representative of your university to discuss military education and how it’s stepping up to the demands of higher education and the dynamics of technology. You might even consider assembling a panel of stakeholders or subject experts who can speak to these evolving issues as they relate to the military and their families.

Educational programs and training programs are blending - the military is looking for return on the money invested in educational programs. The payback needs to support the global mission – the mobile military. Just going to school isn't good enough - there has to be tangible benefits - so maybe a session on evaluating the connection between mission and education. We are interested in topics that will strike a cord with the military and stimulate discussion. These are just a few ideas.

We have twelve concurrent sessions to fill - do you have what we are looking for?   All sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes in length. All presenters are expected to pay the conference registration fee.

There are three sessions slated for each of the following timeslots:

1100-1150 10 Mar 10
1430-1520 10 Mar 10
1100-1150 11 Mar 10
1330-1420 11 Mar 10
